Waste oil collections as part of Oil Recovery Programe (Holcim).

Salter Cartage is involved in the Oil Recovery Program as the oil collection agent.
This equates to over 3000 sites from Turangi to Cape Reinga.

Salter Cartage uses three truck sizes for these collections: 6000 liter tanker, 10000
liter tanker and14000 litre tanker.

Each truck is equipped with its own pump, hoses and is calibrated for measuring how much oil is collected at each pick up. The tankers can pump out 209 litre drums, storage tanks and machines. A tax invoice is issued with the number of litrescollected, and the cost (This invoice can be used as proof of legal disposal.)

On return to our depot the waste oil is pumped into holding storage tanks and then delivered to Onehunga Wharf where it is pumped onto Holcim Cements ships for its journey to Westport for incineration.

Oil Filter Collections and drums of oil

Salters operate an van body truck with a tail lift suitable for the collection and transportation of drummed product. This truck can collect oil filter drums or drums filled with waste oil. A filter drum is supplied to new customers and an exchange drum is dropped off for the following visits. These drums can also be used for oily rags. Orders can be place as above
